If you look at your social media strategy as one part of your marketing mix, it can result in a highly effective way of engaging with your customers and increasing your brand exposure.
Here are some ways you can achieve this:
- Keep your message, and the way you deliver it consistent across all your channels (Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn as well as your blog). Having a consistent voice creates more coherent brand messaging which can lead to more effective conversions!
- Deciding for a goal and a central aim helps you focus your strategy. Use separate channels to drive traffic to your central aim. For instance, if your aim is to drive traffic to your blog to entice visitors to access your articles and eventually buy your products, you could include links of your resource section to your Facebook, Twitter and YouTube channels.
- Traditional forms of marketing can be an excellent way of driving traffic to your social media sites. Include URLs of your blog, site, Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn profiles to your business cards, brochures, fliers or any other presentation you give.

I’ve seen people whose profiles say one thing about them and another thing on the other networks. Like a marketer or consultant on one profile and then one who sells a product on their other profiles. People get confused and sometimes end up not getting services or buying from them because of such inconsistencies. One thing we need to understand is that people now almost always go to google to learn something about someone and our job is to make sure that what we really do, and what google says through our online profiles, is loud, clear, and accurate.
It’s very important to look and think of the bigger picture. A safe way of achieving succes is by having good strategies and following schedules.
