Many of us are into social networking sites for personal use, career and business connections, etc., but more so in a one-sided way.

According to an article I was reading at TechRepublic, to get the best of social media, and just be a better person, one should make sure to give back.

Here are some ways to do that, so take some time to do one of the following in the next few weeks:

  • Share valuable and interesting articles with your network through your status updates on a daily basis.
  • Keep an eye out for job opportunities and send them to people in your network who have qualified skills.
  • Write someone in your network an unsolicited recommendation at least once a week.
  • Connect people with similar interests.
  • Answer questions posted by others that are relevant to your expertise.
  • Mentor somebody who needs help.
